Yea, great advise. Except for the dealer who gets charged with selling an illegal assault weapon, and the guy who thought he was buying a legal gun and gets charged down the line. "The dealer told me it was legal" is not going to be a viable defense.

Like I said before, going by the text of the SAFE act, and the step-by-step on the SAFE website, I can find no evidence that a semi-auto w/ detachable mag and muzzle brake would be legal. Can anyone refute that beyond assumptions?

The website holds no legal authority and has been proven to be false many times now. The confusion lies with one court ruling said "Brakes" were legal because of the spelling error. Then the case went up the chain to the appeals court where they said no even with the spelling error the meaning of the law was clear. Essentially making muzzle brakes/breaks illegal again. Willjr75 I think provided the link to the latest ruling.

Don't know, it could be. What is a grip? do you know? A flashlight bolted to the receiver should be ok.
and what about conspicuously beneath the action? Bullpups are exempt for the so called AW BS classification as the thing you grab is under the barrel and not the action right?

I cannot wait to go to the range to test my new carbine and 10x5 round magazines...

A replacement barrel doesn't have to befrom Stag.

I want to build a battery powered device that takes a disintegrating link belt of 10 round magazines and automatically swaps a fresh one into the rifle after each is empty....

Or just add a shrink fit sleeve over the brake so it's not a brake anymore.

Short piece of tube, bore out the ID for a nice interference fit on the brake, heat it with a torch and install.

Bonus is that it could be removed with a dremel pretty easily when you finally decide it's time to hoist the Jolly Roger, or escape to free America.
