Folks Many of you have parts for your guns on hand As we saw with covid most gun stores were shut down. If one was cleaning their gun and lost a part even a simple spring it was hard to find another at times.
So goes with chainsaws. I had a bad windstorm hit my place last winter and blew a large barn apart. Trees blown down . This was a disaster for me but nothing like in North Carolina last month. When things don't work as they should and one cannot get out of their driveway or even with another covid stay in place order from the government.... certain parts would be a god send to have on hand.

Timely thread! I had two good Huskies and two great Stihls but unfortunately had to sell them. Being sawless for past six or seven years I have had the urge to buy another Stihl MS 362 C-M to replace the last saw I sold (IMO the perfect saw for DIYer). I had some stuff stored at a friend's garage and he recently asked me to clear it out as they will be doing a renovation soon. Low and behold there was an 18" Craftsman saw that i bought in the 1990s and hardly ever used. Completely forgot about it. To my surprise it kicked right over with the gas that's been sitting in it for probably 20 years! I cleaned it up , replaced the fuel lines and bought a new 20" bar and chain for it. Was running pretty good last weekend but I used it this past week to buck up some downed trees and was having trouble starting it and keeping it running (worked great when I finally got it running). Just yesterday pulled the carb and took it apart and soaked it in a can of Berrymans. Unfortunately I seemed to lose the metering lever inside carb so now it's DOA. Have to order a carb kit and should have it running again this week. I'll be sure to watch the videos above! Thanks for posting.
BTW the Craftsman is certainly no Stihl (or even Husky) but beggers can't be choosers and all that LOL...

Oregon sent a crew with a tent and trailer loaded with supplies to WNC. They set up and provided free chainsaw services, gave away PPE, bars, chains, etc.
In support, I just bought a Oregon sharpener and 2 new Oregon 20" chains for my Echo CS-590. OEM (Oregon) chain was getting tired and just got me through cutting up my trees that came down.

Owning a shit ton of property, burning wood for heat, and owning a saw mill has resulted in me having an abundance of chain saws. I remember many years ago I started with a Husqvarna 55 Rancher. Then I wanted more power...so a 372xp it was. Then I wanted something smaller with more power, got into the Autotune series with a 550xp. Then a 562xp, 543xp,...probably missing a couple.......

I have family over in Washington county, so I'll check into these places.
I ask for someone with real mechanical experience because it's a Sachs 116si.
Real beast when it was new. Cut probably close to 400 cords with it.
But now it's owned by makita and those guys look at me like I've got 2 heads

However, I recently used an electric saw, to limb up a small walnut tree that was growing next to my house.....damn thing worked!! 4" trunk and plenty of limbs...cut it all.
I have a 372 and 395, but except for the cost and reliability issues, I might get an EV saw, too.
I got the 395 w 28" bar when I was given a 50" diameter maple......I justified the purchase with the amt of wood I would harvest.............Damn thing did its job.......I cut many 24" trunk sections into pie shapes..plenty of noodles, if you know what I mean.

Not sure which saw you're talking about but if it's the one i posted the saw had a Poulan manufacturer code. I've read some confusing posts that imply it could have actually been made by Husqvarna or a Poulan/Husqvarna hybrid. It's 49cc i was using last week on a fallen tree about 12-14 diameter. I cut fine but I could tell it wasn't as quite powerful as other saws I've owned in past.
