I was all by myself at the range this morning. So, I was able to catch some video clips of some load testing.
With a dearth of Hornady ELD match bullets, I picked up about 600 140 grain HPBT to feed both my 6.5 CM and 6.5 PRC. I also found some Lapua 6.5 CM small primer brass. I loaded some up for the range today.
Remington 6.5 CM ADL Tactical
Magpul Hunter 700
Nikon FX1000 Black 4-16x50 MIL
Timney 2-stage trigger
Witt Machine Muzzlebrake
Hornady 140 gr. HPBT Match
44 gr. Hodgdon Superformance
Lapua SP brass
Remington 7 1/2 Bench Rest Primers
I was very pleased with the 700 yard grouping. But, I had trouble with the wind at 1000 yards. I had a number of flyers and vertical stringing.
The HPBT has a respectable BC of 0.580. But, you get spoiled by the ELD with a BC of 0.646.
Range (yards) Velocity (FPS) Drop (MIL)
0 2638 0
100 2527 0. (ZERO)
700 1703 6.0
1000 1376 9.7
