Just an FYI for people in the market for hunting and/or camping items. Always check the clearance aisle in your local Tractor Supply Store. This week I picked up a Treeline (store brand) Mossy Oak 600 lumen USB rechargeable headlamp. It was marked down from $39.99 to $17. The nice feature is that there are 2 on off switches. One for the 70 lumen green or the 50 lumen red led and another switch that cycles the 2 white led settings of 600 and 300 lumens. Other headlamps sometimes require that you cycle through white, red and green before you can turn them off. I also like the fact that I can charge this in my car or in the field with my portable USB backup battery that I carry in my pack. I have a 320 lumen AAA headlamp and this one from Treeline literally outshines it by a mile. Well, by 100 yards at least. lol The run time is supposed to be 3-4 hours on high (600 lumens) and 4-5 hours on low (300 lumens). Charging takes 3-4 hours, so I'm going to keep it in my pack as my primary light and use the AAA headlamp as my backup. Remember one is none and two is one.

Nice find. I'll have to run up to my local tractor supply. The improvement in lighting technology over the past few years is nothing short of incredible. I've got a MagLite LED 3 C cell flashlight that I swear in the dead of night I can turn that thing on and see at least a half mile away. And it's got the strobing option that when you look into it it really disorients you. Not that I would use it in a self-defense situation unless that was all I had, but it's a good secondary option.
