1:6? For heavier projectiles?
1:6? That's fast. What's the minimum weight bullet it will stabilize? I have a 1:7 and it's too fast for 55gr. It eats 62gr all day long, but it loves 69-75.
I have shot 53 grain Sierras out of it they group about 1 1/4 inch the heavier ones group a lot better or show more potential with more load development.1:6? For heavier projectiles?
What distance?I would check with Faxon. Their barrels are already 11* target crowned. Nathan might work with you and pull one from production before threading. Ask, worst he will say is no. BTW, I have a Faxon 16" custom barrel in 6.5 Grendel (Not available to general public yet but they are coming.) It is awesome!
Shot this 5 shot group in it's first trip to range Sunday. That's .591" center to center. View attachment 9358
What distance?
By that point I'm closing in on the cost of a custom barrel, but I also don't want to wait months for a custom barrel to be made either if I can help it.
.
Not sure what 18 internediate gas is though?
The biggest difference in the 3 chambers is the throat dimensions. It would not be difficult to cut the 223 chamber in your rifle to the 223 wylde Clearing the Caliber Confusion: .223 Wylde vs. 5.56 NATO - American Weapons Componentsjust what is a 223 Wylde chamber ... from what i read i got its a .223 / 5.56 NATO .. you can shoot either in it .. am i correct ? ..
my Mini 14 is stamped .223 rem .. 580's series if i remember .. i see some say i could or could not use 5.56 in it .. could my mini 14 barrel be rechamberd
to 223 Wylde chamber if above is correct .. just thinking mmmm @meketrefe
but I really doubt I'm going to go much above 55gr, and even 1:7 isn't the best match for that.
You missed.

I did find a White Oak that would meet nearly all my specs, and is in stock, but is a touch heavier than I was hoping for.
Stupid question but can you just smooth out the threads on a threaded barrel?
Ive been looking for a non threaded barrel too and they are sold out almost every where.
Carp- It was. I came real close to pulling the trigger a number of times, but I just couldn't wrap my head around the weight. My build is basically a completely middle of the road, do all type setup, and although I know I'm going to fail, I'm trying to keep as much weight off it as possible. I had a HBAR on my last SCR, and IIRC it was around 40 oz and turned the gun into a pig. The M4 barrel I replaced it with @ 28oz balanced the gun out a lot better. I'm hoping the SOCOM I ordered about splits the difference. Who's handguard is that BTW, still haven't decided 100% on which way I'm going in that dept yet, went with ALG last time, and could go with them again but am open to options.
I spoke with Faxon a while ago about making target crowned barrels for us and while they didnt just blow me off they did say it was possible with a 25 barrel minimum. I was pushing for a 1/7 mid length gov profile...
