Does any one load for your SKS?

For plinking I have been buying the cheap ammo, $5 a box.

For more accurate shooting I was thinking about buying some brass, dies and projectiles and ply with it a little.

I picked up an AR upper in 7.62x39 a while ago. I'm still in the collecting brass stage, but am looking forward to reloading for it and seeing what it can do.

After much trial and error...killer-load for my CBC 16" AR shoots 1.5" groups at 200 yards..sub MOA...29.8 gr CFE BLK w/ 123gr Hornady SST crimped in groove...2475fps. The CFE BLK is THEE powder for 7.62x39!

I reload for my KS-47. It’s very accurate, using only a red dot. I use the SST as well.

I bought this Sks to flip, I would of made a hundred bucks. I took it out shooting and was busting clay pigeons 65 yards with it and it was fun to shoot.
Yesterday when I took my grandson out shooting he tried it out and did good with it.

Brownells has starline brass for it, $40 for a hundred pieces. E bay has dies listed.
For a $100 I can start reloading for it.

I have CFE powder, I will probably pick the stuff up after my trip back to New Yorkistan for deer season.

I've been using 4198 for x39. What improvements would I get by changing to CFE? I have a TON of 4198 to go through first, but I'd be open to trying something else.

I was reloading for it but there are a few problems. Out of something like an AK it will beat the shit out of the casings. Then there is trying to find bullets. Finding cheap plinking bullets in .311-.312 is tough. If you find bullets in this size it totally negates the cost savings. Communist ammo is hard to beat.

I haven't loaded 7.62x39 for almost 2 decades. I used to reload the steel cased Norinco stuff, converting the Berdan primed stuff into boxer primed and run 150 grain bullets but that was a long time ago. The last x39 stuff I bought cost me 189 for a case of 1000

7362x39 is so cheap i don't see the pint in reloading it. Just my opinion though.

For plinking the cheap stuff is the way to go.

I'd like to see what the gun is capable of with good ammo.
For a hundred dollars I can do that.

I've found that to be the case as well with the exception of being able to load my own subsonics. I have a load that reliably cycles the action with a can on it and is even quieter than 300 blackout. It's really fun to shoot.

I load hunting rounds for mine. I suppose considering what I use it for, it's not necessary, but it's nice to get 1 MOA accuracy with a red dot out of a round that most people expect cannot do that. I do have a box of 500 plinking plated bullets that I'll have to get around to loading up eventually, those are kind of pointless. But you also have to consider the hassle of getting crates of ammo here, especially in the city.

For me strictly performance. My 4198 loads were clocked at 2290-2320fps from my 16" AR. with the CFE BLK I picked up 125-150fps. The 4198 was very accurate, I was just trying to maximize the 16" AR barrel ..

I am using the SST123 gr and H4198 out of my Mini 30. 24 - 25 grns seems to be the most accurate for me. 2-3 MOA is good enough for me for whitetail boiler room.

A lot of fun to pop off a 10 rd. mag or 2 sometimes.
