This is a fascinating idea.

What if you can convince a heavily blue state it's in everyone's best interest to have a mutual divorce and split. Let the rural red counties join a bordering red state and then Oregon becomes a super blue state to do as they want while ridding themselves of their poor rural conservatives.

Their plan is centered on leaving one state to join another.



For the record I think it has a snowball chance in hell to succeed but I like the idea and applaud them for trying.

Still won't happen it requires mutual consent at the very minimum and VA isn't going to give up tax revenue. Ie. I can't on my own decide I'm going to buy your house from you, you still have to be willing to sell it.

We should make all major cities like D.C. with limited representation in the state they reside. Make their own unconstitutional rules for themselves and leave the rest of us the fuck alone. That would have a better chance for success than separation.

I've often thought that once a city (or town or village for that matter) reaches a certain population it should be given some semi-independent status, with the caveat that they have power to influence or enact policy on their less populous neighbors.

Won’t happen. California tried to split and the judge said no. It sure why they want to make DC and PR states so why does it matter anymore how many states we have. Sure 50 sounds great and is a round number.

Oregon is a lot like NY. It's a mainly red state except for a few liberal cesspool densely populated cities that drive the states politics.

We don't need permission from the king. We need to only work as a group and exert enough economic and social force to get our way. With enough effort, there will be no choice but for the it to be allowed given the wrath of economic and social consequences otherwise.

The only thing standing in the way of the people is our own inability to perform and step up to the challenge. This is all basic stuff. Our country was founded on the idea that we're constantly fighting for our beliefs and cultures.

We've all seen this before. Every green county in this picture passed some kind of resolution that they were against NY SAFE.
My reaction to this story is much the same. That's nice. Doesn't mean or do anything, but that's nice.
