Not in the news, more like in history, but I came across it and thought it was relevant. Anyone around who remembers this? Pretty much the first "mass shooting" as we know it in US history.

Well, one might make an argument that Wounded Knee was the first and they wouldn't be wrong.

I know you said "shooting" but if you want to go back in time close to that far and stay in the same vein, I would point you to Andrew Kehoe.

Really an amazing performance. Gunny was originally supposed to be in the helicopter scene only (“How can you shoot women and children? Easy. You just lead them a little”) but Kubrick liked him so much he took on the key role of drill sergeant.

It's really a cautionary tale on not being too good at your job! I watched an interview with jason alexander talking about seinfeld and later in the series he and the cast were keenly aware that it may be career destroying because they'd be so severely typecast.

There have many, too many, mass shootings in the US. People make this seem like it is a new phenomenon, it is not. Our history is full of mass shootings.

BTW, I would not consider Wounded Knee to fall into this type of category.

the good news is he got to hang out with Kirsten Joy Weiss and shoot stuff.
