9mm Sig Sauer threaded barrel

I see a lot of posts asking for clarity regarding unSAFE act restrictions on pistol caliber rifles but not on actual hand weapon pistols.
Simple questions-
Can I purchase a threaded barrel for my 9mm X vtac?
Can I purchase a compensator?
If yes, do I need to weld or epoxy the thread protector to the barrel?
Does it ship to an FFL or my house?

TIA! Just looking to do some mods but don’t want to end up with unwelcome guests on my front porch to confiscate my weapons

The way I see it is the threaded barrel an compensator are fine as long as it’s not removable or threaded. Only issue is could you remove the barrel for servicing if it’s fixed? Could be an issue for you. Good luck.

Says in it no threaded barrel. Doesn’t say anything about compensator or muzzle brake in regards to pistols. Way it reads you could have compensator or muzzle brake on a pistol. I know you can install either of those on a 1911 via the barrel bushing but I don’t know about other pistols.

That’s why I’m asking if anyone here actually has a threaded barrel with a brake on it; I’ve looked through the pages online hundreds of times hoping to find better info but I haven’t.

Semiautomatic pistol with ability to accept a detachable magazine cannot have a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer among other things within PRNY. Compensators are not explicitly prohibited but seems they would need to be permanently attached which i believe would render your P320 incapable of being "fully" disassembled for routine cleaning, maintenance and/or repairs so don't see why anyone would want to do this. (I know that the slide with barrel and comp can be removed from frame with comp attached). Parts get shipped to your house.

There have been a few designs in the works that try to work around the law. They use a proprietary barrel and comp. that doesn't utilize threads. The early indications were these designs were not just legal but also very effective compensators. The bad news is...... since the COVID hit have yet to hear about them again. Sadly I don't know of any that do these for Sigs. Any stick to Glock 19/17 designs

And even then it's a bit tricky with the proprietary threading and one might argue the compensator could be consider a barrel extension (I wouldn't but a DA may?? )

Honestly I don't see any real reason not to pin and weld the comp to a barrel..

At worst your barrel is now permanently fixed to your slide.. well guess what we can still do all/most the cleaning and take down around that with little effort, with the added benefit of not having the comp come loose and walk of the threads like many people have to deal with..

If you know of a good smith who can do the P&W then I say picn whatever barrel comp combo you want and go for it

With the price coming down on ultrasonic units the cleaning debate has become moot. The only maintenance thing I could see being a is front sights on certain model pistols.

Completely agree, actually didn't think of the front sight issue which sig makes that a better choice than say glock but even that is almost like the cleaning issue. Pick a sight prior make sure it's a good one, sight it in and you are good to go

Can you get a longer barrel and just machine some ports into the end ?

I'm thinking like a G17 barrel in a G19 or something.

That way no threads, and the barrel is the same diameter for the full length so it can still be disassembled.

I did see the design glocks use for the comp that attaches via rod but I’ll never buy Glock (sorry guys) ha my wife’s owns 1 glock and it’s the cheesiest feeling piece of trash ever. It shoots AMAZING!! It’s just trash compared to Sig quality. I’m convinced anyone that’s die hard Glock hasn’t tried Sig or other higher quality brands but that’s a conversation for a different day.
cleaning wouldn’t be that difficult even with the comp permanently attached to the barrel using just a couple qtips to get towards the front of the slide. Ports drilled into the barrel wouldn’t perform nearly as well as an actual engineer compensator but good thinking; I only know this because I design M1 Abrams cannon assembly systems. Definitely appreciate everyone’s feedback, just really wanted to know if anyone in New Yorkistan had tried it or was running one on a CCW. I just ordered a bunch of goodies from Primary Arms and a few other sites for some builds I want to do.

Well I’ve shot both sigs and glocks. I would like to spend my money on sig products again but after all the problems I had with my first gen MCX I am hesitant to do so. Sig is a very innovative company but it just seems like they use the public to beta test their problems. The QC on my mcx was atrocious and after sending it back twice I cut my losses and sold it. Factor in the hydro locking issue on the mpx, striker drag on the P365 and the drop issue on the P320 family (granted sig has seemingly fixed said issues) and I am reluctant to give them my money again. Sig has a tendency to deny a problem and blame the user no matter what. Look at what smith and Wesson did with the shield EZ 380 recall. They identified an issue that affected just two shield EZ 380’s and voluntarily recalled all that could have possibly been affected. Sig could take note from the handling of that. I have shot both the 19X and M18 recently and personally I liked how the M18 shot better. However I selected the 19X because I felt I could trust it more. At the end of the day these are just inanimate objects and as long as you select the one that works best for you, that is all that matters. To attach any sort of emotions (fanboyism) to it is pointless as it can blind one from considering what might be a good option. The two glocks that I do own I like very much, but if a better option comes along (be it from sig, smith and Wesson or even taurus) I won’t hesitate to exchange them for that option.
