A 16-Year-Old Girl Is Facing Child Pornography Charges for Making a Sex Video of Herself
Maryland's highest court will soon decide whether a 16-year-old girl, "S.K.," can face child pornography charges for taking a video of herself performing a sex act and sending it to a few of her close friends.

S.K. shared the video, in which she performs consensual oral sex on an unidentified male, with two close friends and fellow students, who later reported her to the school resource officer. S.K. was the only person charged in connection with the alleged crime.


The Special Court of Appeals upheld S.K.'s conviction, ruling that the consensual nature of the sex act in question was irrelevant, as was the fact that it was not illegal for S.K. to perform the act. Taking a video of the act and sending it to other people constituted distribution of child pornography, according to the court's decision.

While she should probably get some counseling or something similar, I really don’t think she deserves to be legally punished. It wasn’t the best choice to film herself knob gobbling and send it to friends but no reason to make it worse with some legal punishment. This is the kind of thing that can go from kid making a bad decision to sinking the rest of her life. I think too many people are quick to judge when most of us here didn’t grow up with everyone having a high quality camera and the ability to communicate instantly from most anywhere. I know I’m glad there weren’t cameras everywhere when I was her age.

By definition she made child porn and distributed it. It’s been a problem for a while now with the whole sextons thing. Not hard for people to know it’s illegal. Should she be prosecuted maybe maybe not. If so everyone involved should be prosecuted unless they were unaware of the video being made and all reported the sharing of the video.
