A Bloated IRS Prepares Cutting Workforce By 25%​

Nearly two months after a top Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) official and support team arrived at IRS headquarters to investigate waste and fraud—aiming to streamline a bloated and corrupt federal bureaucracy—the Trump administration has begun a sizeable workforce reduction across the federal agency.
Fox News reported late Friday evening that the IRS will begin laying off about 20,000 staffers — up to 25% of the workforce — on Friday and through next week.
Most job cuts will center around the IRS Office of Civil Rights and Compliance, which protects taxpayers from discrimination, audits, and investigations.
White House spokesperson Liz Huston told Fox News, "In a stark contrast to the previous administration's wildly unpopular plan to hire thousands of additional IRS agents, President Trump is focused on saving tax dollars, eliminating bloat, axing useless DEI offices, and increasing the agency's efficiency."

It could've probably used some trimming down. I'm not in disagreement, largely. Although, I have concerns that the wing meant to protect against audits is being shut down. Was it actually effective at that job? I don't know.

I know that the Taxpayer Rights Advocate office, which is what it sounds like this was based on the description, normally has some sway or ability within the IRS to get your answers when they wouldn't otherwise respond.

So I'm not 100% sure what to make of this.

They should tell all the employees that they need to figure out if they're useful or not.

Then resign if they aren't, and if they guess wrong they'll be prosecuted.

Just like they do for us with taxes.

2020 filing.they lost my return but cashed my check
2021 filing.......threw away my 1099.....tried to charge me for money paid to them
2022 filing...........again threw away my paper 1099
2023 filing again threw away my 1099

Ignorant DEI handle paper returns, and cannot do simple arithmetic.

Electronic filing is their fondest wish.

It is is a political hit list run, corrupt org. I am still waiting for my 2008 George Bush $800 Stimulus check.............they said the fund ran out of money.

Shouldn't exist. Funny how the IRS was born when we turned over our Nations currency manufacturing to the Fed (private bank) magically on Christmas eve of 1913. Replace it with the ERS!
