A cross between domestic pigs and wild boars was intentionally bred in Canada. The resulting 'super pigs' escaped captivity and could be invading the US.

The "super pigs" were bred for their litter size and furry coat, traits that make the invasive species an "environmental train wreck," an expert said.

I have friends in the south and they wont eat the wild pigs. They say it taste like old shoe leather. So I doubt they even bother to hunt them often unless you can just leave the dead ones in the dirt . Shooting and field dressing just to donate to a food bank must get old quick.

I guess it depends. I have buddies that enjoy wild pig. The piglets and sows probably taste better than old boars. And those are the better ones to take to reduce the population anyway.

I worked on a pig farm as a kid. Old boars were turned into sausage and heavily seasoned. My guess is old wild boar is a little leaner and gamey. Sort of like some of the forum members.

The guy I hunted with said it would taste like your underarm after a long day working in the sun! He said if you want to eat them you have to go after the piglets.
