Nope, I generally don't buy firearms until I've had a chance to handle and, if possible, shoot them. I've shot saiga magazine-fed pump action's; they're not all that reliable compared to the tube-fed's I've shot.

Nope, I generally don't buy firearms until I've had a chance to handle and, if possible, shoot them. I've shot saiga magazine-fed pump action's; they're not all that reliable compared to the tube-fed's I've shot.

My bad I guess I shouldnt check out videos of say the new Jeep truck or Ford Bronco, cause I'll never own one.

The funny part is no one ever said the mossberg version (or honestly iirc the earlier Remington model) was bad or not worth buying for what it was. Just said wasnt innovative, but no someone was so invested in their butthurt they took it personally and decided that a clone of another product is still innovative

I never threatened to ignore you and I never questioned your service. I did question how likely it was for you to be in serious danger during your daily routine; if I recall correctly, you brought up concerns about terrorist attacks and multiple attackers.

I just think its corny as hell when vets play up their military service (like by putting moto junk in their online avatars) on forums. I served. I don't bring it up, because its not a big deal and honestly its not relevant to most of the conversations that take place on these forums.

My post was to be a troublemaker. Seeing the back and forth about what’s innovative or nit then seeing old Blackbeard say he doesn’t want a shotgun or something.... my gosh you people like to keyboard debate/argue! I really did buy an 870 dm mainly due to the 590 mags being so clunky and expensive. I like shotguns. I like being able to have a couple of mags locked in the bedside safe ready to go. I have a kid so it’s a safer way to store a shotgun and shells in my opinion. The mags are also cheap.

Fine, I misspoke on the pricing...you got me. The 2 firearms (Mossberg's 590m vs what I assume is Black Aces' base 500) are about the same but, as I said earlier, you get what you pay for with regards to magazine design and feeding systems.

Cost aside, there are no facts....this is a subjective issue. I think the 590M, and the Remington equivalent (sorry if I offended you by forgetting to mention that), are solid and innovate contributions to the pump-action shotgun segment.

Black Aces may have come to market with the magazine-fed concept sooner, but they use saiga-derived magazines, which have been known for having reliability issues. Maybe the design has seen improvements in recent years, but if it costs about the same as a factory-warrantied 590m, I'll go with the factory option over the custom gun shop for obvious reasons (factory support and warranty). I think you fail to appreciate how important magazine and feeding system design are to the overall function and reliability of any weapon, but especially a shotgun. Due to the nature of shotgun shells, magazine feeding is a bit more finicky, and thus more complicated, than a typical AR-type magazine, OEM or aftermarket. That's largely the reason magazine systems have been slow to catch on in both semi-auto and pump-action shotgun market segments. Mossberg and Remington are both offering magazine-fed pump-action's with warranties; that says something about their confidence in their design's effectiveness and longevity.

If you disagree with that fine...go ahead. I just don't see what you're getting out this conversation since you're not interested in either product.
