I am sure some people here have read/watched The Expanse.

A small part of that book series is the fact that the government has chosen to give hand outs like the one stated by the snowflake above to anyone who wants it. People turn a certain age and they decide if they want to be on assistance for the rest of their life or they want to go work.

The end result was not a perfect society but one of overpopulation, government control and a lack of resources.

Let them have it and see how far it goes because as soon as noone wants to work and the feds can't get tax money it will go away real quick. It will be the destruction of this country and it will be the destruction of most of the countries in the world. Maybe then people will get their heads back on and figure out that working AND keeping jobs in this country is going to bring us back to a reasonably happy population that can get along with each other again.
