Not really a tale, but a question. Of the three, SIG Scorpion, Springfield or Dan Wesson, which would get the nod? Anyone have experience with any of them? Which are the best for the money? Functionality issues?
I actually forgot about the Ruger. I didn't know S&W made a 1911. I have a Colt and a Springfield already. Just looking to retire the Springfield and replace it in the rotation. I guess three 1911s was too limiting for the title! I will have to look at some other models. Dan Wesson are quite pricey, maybe not really a good choice. Maybe another Springfield. Not on your list but have you ever considered the Ruger SR1911? I have of those myself and have had zero issues with it. It's also a lot cheaper than the other models you mention.
I like the look of it! What did that run you?I've got the Springfield operator. It's my first and only 1911 and I love it. The pistol far out preforms my skill level. View attachment 2172
Don't tell the wife...... right over $1000. the story goes I was going to shop around for prices I walk in to the fist place and hand him the print out and said how much for one of these. he said hang on one second grabs the gun out of the show case and shoves it in my hand. Needless to say there was no way I could say no at that point. I'm really glad I did get it, it is by far my favorite gun and still have a huge smile everytime I do shoot it. Not to twist your arm anymore the newest generation is even better looking.I like the look of it! What did that run you?
I have handled many R-1s. There are reasons I would get one, then there are reasons I wouldn't. I have a 1911A1 from the '70s and it has ran without a hiccup for me. A really nice gun. Springfield does make some sweet 1911s.I have a Remington R1 and Springfield Range officer. The RO has noticeably superior quality. I got the Remington for under $300 brand new. It was a deal I just couldn't pass up. It works fine and has had 0 issues but there IS a difference.
Ha ha, I won't tell her! I do like the Springfield I have. I will have to look at the LGS and see if he has one I can check out. Too bad he doesn't have a range too!Don't tell the wife...... right over $1000. the story goes I was going to shop around for prices I walk in to the fist place and hand him the print out and said how much for one of these. he said hang on one second grabs the gun out of the show case and shoves it in my hand. Of the two I have, the only problems have been with the Colt. It had a 2 piece guide rod in it and one day the front half decided to come loose and fly out of the gun and disappear. Then the front leg of the ejector sheared off. The gunsmith said I was using too hot ammo. I don't believe I ever used even +P in the gun. At any rate, I like the look of @MilesTeg Springfield. Maybe I will think more on it. The other one I would like to see is the Ruger.I have a Sig scorpion, 2 Kimbers , a Springfield, and 3 Colts, one of which is from 1919. All shoot great. No issues with any of them. I have a Ruger 1911 in 9MM with no issues either. All good quality. Can't go wrong with any of them
Advertisement says it is a new line, sounds like a new model being introduced.Springfield has a new gun coming out the first of Nov called the "Saint", don't know if it is going to be a 1911 or not.
