The past year’s headlines strongly suggest: All roads lead to racism.

On Sunday morning, the ACLU took to Twitter:

“Racism is foundational to the Second Amendment and its inclusion in the Bill of Rights.”

The group makes quite a claim: “Anti-Blackness” birthed the Right to Bear Arms.

That freedom, allegedly, resides somewhere amid “the justification of militia violence.”


On top of that, America’s rife with “unequal enforcement of gun laws.”

Think about it for a second.

Requiring ID to vote is racist. After all, black people (and other minorities, but they focus most on black people) are unable to get IDs, whether due to lack of finances, lack of availability (Republicans keep closing DMVs in black neighborhoods, after all), or lack of ambition (they always imply black people are lazy).
So requiring an ID AND a background check to buy a gun must be the highlight of racism!

You could. However the NRA does train range officers and have other roles. I’m not sure the aclu does the same.

Like the NRA, who used to be primarily about training and proficiency, the ACLU was once about protecting civil liberties.

They could go back to suing over real constitutional violations as easily as the NRA could fall back on organizing events and providing training.

Both do still occasionally perform their original function, but both have found far it more lucrative to create an enemy to fight.

The ACLU is a paper-bag organization (like so many others) that has an identity crisis and struggles to exist by manufacturing these (and many other) stories which are not based on fact. They have lost their original focus and are struggling for relevancy by latching on to hot-button societal issues.
