The first human reaction is: we have to so something, how we can help.
The first law enforcement reaction is: who is this criminal? What was his motive? Was he working alone?
The first antingun folks reaction is: ban all the evil guns.
The first logical person reaction is: Why are people defenseless in public places? Why there is not a security perimeter or someone to defend an attack.
We cannot pretend crime free zones exist w/o some sort of security perimeter or procedure. For example the secure area of an airport (actually secured) vs a crime free zone on a school campus (pretending to be secured).
See the difference between those two zones?
Are fellow travellers more important than our kids on schools or those unfortunate shoppers?
Who can say we deny you the security and on top the capability to defend yourself?
Many gun owners and organizations reaction: this is sad and there is nothing we can do, jus be in the defensive and complain.

Stop me when you have heard this before. The Boulder, Colorado, shooter was named as 21-year-old Ahmad al-Aliwi Alissa earlier today. An then this gem from the New York Times:

Does anyone actually know what 'modifications' were made to his firearm? Nice grip, holographic site? I wouldn't be surprised if in this case, finishing a gun by adding a sight would be considered 'modifying'.

Yes, there are Christians in Syria and probably Jews and a few other minority religions too. If I had to place money on what religion Mr. Al-Issa practices though it would be the other monotheistic religion.
