Wow - how hard would that be to paint the center of each hole and the top and the end? I'm not exactly Michelangelo when it comes to painting. I can't even do my wife's toenails without fucking it all up 20 times per toe. I get Christmas cards from the nail polish remover company; that's how bad I am.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Not going up to $1k for a rifle and then another 1k scope, but probably $1000-$1500 at most for an entire build. At this point, I consider that a lot.

Anyway, sorry to OT your thread.

Aside from anodizing parts, what's the most effective way for a color change? Cerakote? Paint?

I have been buying the parts one at a time. But someone else in this thread linked us to anodized red paint and said it wasn't all that hard to do. I haven't tried painting yet. That might be a hobby for next summer because my wife wants a pink AR15.

I'm with you. $750 for a rifle, $500 for a scope, $50 for a bipod, $50 for a nice sling, $150 for rings; and call it a day. $1,400 to $1,500 all-in maximum. There is this other website I have been on for like 10 years called Sniper Central and some of the folks there are into like $3K rifles and $2K glass. I just don't get it. But then I also would rather drive my F150 than a Ferrari; so maybe I am just cheap about stuff. ;-)

I wish I sprang for the M-308 for my bolt gun. I like the P, but the parallax adjustment on the M was why I was considering the Vortex Crossfire II with adjustable parallax. Hearing your comment though on the clarity and light transmission is reassuring though. I can always upgrade to the M if I really feel I need it. Then again, it's a $250 gun and a $250 scope. I have good enough money into my beginner rifle. Next bolt gun will be bigger and better....I mean, I'm done

That being said, with the range on the 308, I am looking at a Primary Arms 1-6 scope for a medium range feel to my AR.

I think you'll be fine with the mounts, since you said it's not moving. Though it is all about feel.

Just keep an eye out for deals. The local gun store to me took in an M-308 on trade-in (I have no idea why) and I think I paid $200? Then I also traded those 3 Pentax LightSeeker 30's I had for another M-308 and few hundred rounds of ammo.
