Adding length of pull to my youth 22lr rifle project.

A few years ago I bought a Rock Island Armory model 14Y 22lr bolt action rifle. I bought it for two reasons. 1. It is an inexpensive bolt action 22lr and 2. It has a threaded barrel. All the reviews I found about this rifle were good. I have been impressed with it's accuracy and it's just plain fun to shoot. It is a youth model however, and so the stock is smaller to accomodate younger, smaller people. This never really bothered me. I could shoot the rifle comfortably, but I kind of always wanted to modify the stock to be more full sized. So....I have looked online at several types of spacers and all, but I had some spare wood laying around so I decided to use that. I've worked it down to a rough fit and glued it to the stock. I will continue to sand it down until it's flush. The grain is opposite what the stock is, so I will likely paint it black to match the butt plate. I will obviously re-stain the stock once all the sanding is done.
The length of pull went from 12 1/2" to 13 1/8" and the overall length is now about 36 3/4"
So far I am very happy with the progress.

Damn Corgi!!!! Why not use longer screws and trace the stock pattern on the spacer, shape it and put it back on using the existing butt cap? seems you created a lot more work for four self.

lol, I did trace the stock pattern, but this here is some kindergarten carpentry. This was really one of those "been wanting to do it for so long but never got the motivation" things that after a few beers I found the motivation and the rest is history kind of deals. I'm not in love with the color of the stock anyway, so roughing it up is not an issue. I will just go over the whole stock and re-stain a darker color. I may try staining the extension as well, but if it doesn't look good with the rest of the stock, I'll just paint it black to match the butt plate.

My philosophy on matchings is, "If you can't rope it in, rope it out.". It also works with a myriad of circumstances.

Just an update. Refinished the stock with Minwax "Gunstock" stain and painted the extension. I'm going to add Tru-Oil this weekend. Not too bad for what it is. I definitely like the darker red color over the oem lighter yellowish stain it originally had.

Yes, that is the distance that a 1 MOA gun shoots a 1” group.
