But reducing crime isn't the purpose of these gun laws, regardless of what the talking heads claim.
These laws are doing precisely what they were intended to do. Disarm the law-abiding.

Now they will be able to say, "look, we dont have a homeless problem, no arrests".

It's always been about votes. If tomorrow some sort of insane pact was made where they agreed to allow even machine guns in CA, in exchange for a ton more votes, those corrupt bastards would do it in a heartbeat to solidify their power even more.
