Fifteen radical left State Attorneys General from across the nation sent a letter on Tuesday, asking the Biden Regime’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention to ban private citizens from purchasing 5.56-millimeter rounds manufactured at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant.

The letter states, “We ask your Office to investigate the contracting and manufacturing practices that led to so many billions of military-grade rounds being sold into our communities, and to issue a public report with recommendations about how to end the diversion of military ammunition into civilian hands. In the long term, we ask the White House to ensure that future production contracts prohibit the sale of military weapons and ammunition to civilians.”

Good thing the military uses FMJ and there are plenty of far superior choices available for specific purposes.

I really hate what this state has become.

Sometimes I'm starting to secretly wish I would get laid off from my job so I would be forced to make a major life changing decision and move out of state ASAP. I'm starting to actually somewhat hope my life self destructs and I suffer personal distress to force my hand. That's how badly I'm growing to loathe this states leaders and what they are doing. It's pretty messed up logic and it's depressing that's where things are.

WTF is Weapons Grade ammunition?????? The best I can collect from this article is its just certain calibers??? like 556 or the likes that go in those nasty black guns.......Didnt know there was a ammunition of choice by mass shooters.....They go to the mass shooters outlet store???

New York Attorney General Letitia James has again joined a multistate coalition of 20 attorneys general calling on the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention to investigate recent reports that a federally funded contractor has produced military-grade ammunition for sale to civilians, including to perpetrators of horrific recent mass shootings. Attorney General James and the coalition sent a letter asking the Office to investigate how a facility overseen by the U.S. Army, Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (Lake City), produced billions of rounds of ammunition that were sold on the civilian market, and asked the Office to ensure that future military production contracts prohibit the sale of military-subsidized weapons and ammunition to civilians.

Lake City is a manufacturing facility operated by a private contractor and overseen by the U.S. Army. It is one of the country’s largest manufacturers of military ammunition, able to produce some 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition per year, much of it for use in AR-15-style rifles. Its commercial operations have sold billions of rounds onto the civilian market, and recent reporting from the New York Times has shown its products have been used in mass shootings and other crimes.

The coalition of attorneys general notes that Lake City rounds have become the “ammunition of choice” for use in mass shootings, citing shootings at Tops supermarket in Buffalo, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, as recent examples where Lake City rounds were used. The Buffalo mass shooter even praised Lake City ammunition as “the best barrier penetration ammo I can get.”

“Military-grade weapons and ammunition do not belong in our homes or in our communities,” said Attorney General James. “Ammunition made at Lake City has been used to kill American civilians in devastating recent mass shootings, including the Tops Supermarket massacre in Buffalo. The continued sale of this ammunition on the private market puts everyone at risk. I’m proud to join with my fellow attorneys general to raise this important issue and help ensure that weapons of war don’t make their way onto our streets.”

The federal government has invested over $860 million to improve production at Lake City, meaning taxpayer funds are subsidizing production of these dangerous rounds sold to civilians. The coalition led by Attorney General James is calling on the White House of Gun Violence Prevention to investigate the contracting and manufacturing practices that led to military-grade rounds being sold to civilians, issue a public report with recommendations about how to keep military ammunition out of civilian hands, and take steps over the long term to ensure that future production contracts prohibit the sale of military weapons and ammunition to civilians.

Joining Attorney General James in sending the letter to the White House are the attorneys general of Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawai‘i, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and the District of Columbia.

This is the setup step to banning all ammo.
"It is common sense laws, for the children; if only one is saved, you don't need weapons grade to kill a dear, ..."
They think the 2nd isn't about ammo, yet it is.

That's the point. On paper it's a great talking point to make the streets safer "taking military grade AMMO off the streets blah blah blah horseshit horseshit horseshit".

Military grade Ammo can actually be anything and everything from the most popular common calibers and ammo
9mm, .40, .45, 12g, 5.56, 7.62x39, 7.62x54, .308, .30-06, .338, .50, sig's new cartridge, 8mm Mauser, .303 British, any other nato caliber, and Russian or Warsaw pact caliber, etc etc etc.

Essentially it could encompass everything.

They are deceitful petty tyrants who want to try to use phrases like "common sense gun control" when it's anything but.

I would actually love this to happen and heres why. It would compel SCOTUS to eventually take a case to once and for all rule if military equivalent ammo and guns are protected by the 2a. It's literally the entire basis of the 2a but asshole politicians and bureaucrats have been skillfully chiseling away and gutting now. .let's just get it to the courts now and decide which way this is going to go

.308 was at one point a very popular round for military snipers and still is used to some extent today. Let them include .308 in their ban. Maybe then the Fudds will wake the hell up when they can't buy a box of .308 for their bolt action deer rifle.

They can really bad every cartridge you can think of because at some point it's likely been used by a military somewhere.

See my post above. I hope NY tries this. I really do. It's so idiotic it would have to end up in SCOTUS and would likely benefit us one way or the other.

I have a comfortable job, my wife has a good job, we have a nice standard of living.

Our kids are happy. They have friends, they are doing well in school, they are involved in sports and activities.

Wife and I literally had this discussion last night.
It sounds so easy to move until you start thinking about how everyone else will be affected.
