Yep. They moved back which decreased their ability to aim properly without actually decreasing their odds of being hit, since most of the shooting was not done behind cover at all. I would say this is probably an instinctive, incorrect action because if you can get further away you feel a bit safer. I'm just monday morning quarterbacking, though. I might shit my pants in the same situation. Not really sure.
