The Altor Corp. is showing off an extremely simple single-shot pistol in 9mm and .380 for self-defense at this year's NASGW trade show.

In fairness, it's way cheaper than an actual Liberator (provided this actually is one, the listing doesn't say much).

If price is no object, then why the crappy design ?

Why weren't we talking about dropping 1911's in WWII instead of liberators ?

We know how to make guns that are better in every than this POS. It's only redeeming feature is a low cost, but it's not enough lower to justify all the sacrifices that have to be made to accept it over a cheap semiautomatic.

And @spat you know there are multiple reasons we didn't drop 1911's on the Maquis. Cost, yes, but also opportunity cost in terms of amount of material needed, concealability, and application. Among others. Your point is well taken otherwise though.

My guess is it would have made or make the perfect prop for an Alfred Hitchcock Presents or similar type current show. One with the theme of the extremely henpecked & unhappy husband who decides to replace the hairdryer in their motel room with it. Then when when the wife goes to blowdry her hair, with the unfamiliar and seemingly small hairdryer, she blows her head off. It looks enough like a hairdryer to maybe fool a dumb blonde.

Maybe on a boat, exposed to salt water spray in an open holster, where you might need to advertise you are armed but don't want to fuck up your nice gun for it. Shark fishing for big ones where you may need to dispatch a keeper quickly. I'm just thinking out aloud.
