Amherst wants to turn former Harley dealership into police, community facility

Gotta say, this kind of pisses me off. Hey, let's take a building that's currently on the tax rolls and turn it into a fun zone for cops. Why not issue a RFP and let a private developer build them something that meets their needs AND make it available to the general public who can also pay to use it?

Also cute how an "assault rifle" becomes a "patrol rifle" when it's used by a cop.

I have nothing against them having a training facility. That being said the range should be available for public use when not being utilized by the police. Free for Amherst residents and a small fee for the rest. A little value for the taxpayers picking up the bill would go along way.

If it was a private venture it would be deemed unsafe due to it's proximity to residential houses and a church school just down Bailey avenue. Look at the location conditions of Wolcott Guns and compare it to this location. Government bullshit.

Both parties definitely have cooties so that isn’t a concern. I’d say with simple target practice your absolutely right. More dynamic training it just may not be practical.
