Ammo sales from individual to another

With these new ammo laws, does this include no private ammo sales from one individual to another? Stupid as this sounds can it be done through a gun store or is this the end of it?

Everything I've read in both NYSAFE and CCIA regarding transfer of ammunition has been in relation to SALES AT A COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENT. I haven't found anything prohibiting the private transfer of ammunition.

Take that for what it's worth. The CCIA and NYSAFE legislations are lengthy, convoluted, and frequently reference other parts of established law.

The gun shop is not going to tell you it's ok. They want you to buy ammo from THEM.

Just take a look in the classified section right here on this forum. There is ammo for sale in every flavor you want. Sole person to person. No ffl involved. If it was an issue, you wouldn't find it listed.

Yea, I'm going to call bullshit on the Shop: They're happy to do or tell people they're exclusive to any transfers because they're going to benefit financially from it.
There are two new lines on the latest revision of Form 4473 that asks if the purchaser is going to transfer guns/ammo to someone else.

Nothing I've read in the ridiculous NY laws precludes two individuals from exchanging ammo any more than buying someone's used lawn mower in the parking lot of a Dollar General.

There IS NO background check available for ammo transfers. None. NY never created it like they were supposed to when SAFE passed, and the feds told them piss up a rooe, they're not tying up NICS for FUDDS to buy a 5 round box of turkey shot.

If you want to be extra safe just ask the individual buying your ammo their name, address, occupation, and record this in a book with any identifying ammo characteristics. That’s all that is required right now. I’m half joking. This shit is vague and confusing for this very reason. The government wants to track everything you do.
This to me is a grey area. It says to sell ammo in NYS you need to be a seller of ammunition and largely the only requirement is to fill out a form, have a business license and not be a felon.
It’s a joke and do you pay taxes on everything you sell person to person like you’re supposed to? Can you give your buddy a box of ammo to shoot while you’re standing there? How far will this go. I load a rifle and hand it to my friend to shoot is that illegal? Common sense at some point has to prevail here. I would say if you’re selling a few boxes here and there just do it but if it’s a regular thing it may become an issue.

Yes this is what I meant. I shoot with my children so if I can sell or transfer ammo to a private citizen at I supposed to make my kids go buy their own ammo and have two boxes of .22’s out when we shoot the rifle together? He loads the mags he shoots out of his box and I load mine out of my box?
Yes there are laws but then there’s common sense. I’ve done some things legally just to protect certain things like on paper. I gave my son all my semi auto rifles because he was 18 and and with the licensing and age of ownership going to 21 years old legally they are his now. There’s also a precision to loan a gun to someone for hunting so if I get caught with the rifles I don’t show the cops the email. If he get caught with the rifle he shows them the email.
In this case if I was the OP I’d find someone I know and just sell or buy from them and be done with it. I will go to PA and buy ammo from now on and my kids can use whatever ammo they want whenever they want. Is it legal? I dunno know anymore but I’ll keep doing it because the other way makes no common sense to me at all. I can also just give my kids all my long guns so why wouldn’t I be able to provide them ammo??

You have nothing to worry about, your Dillion is blue, that's the libs choice of color. On the other hand I use a lot of Lee stuff and that's all red, I'm fucked!
