Ammunition Background Check Bill Flying Under The Radar

On April 20, 2021, “Jamie’s Law” was reintroduced in congress. The bills are S. 1237 and H.R. 2715.

What would the bill aim to do? Require every person to submit to a background check prior to purchasing ammunition. More on the bill:

“To impose background checks on purchases of ammunition is really the epitome of common sense. It’s the reason why six states, including Connecticut, have imposed such life-saving background checks,” said Senator Blumenthal. “There is no infringement on the Second Amendment, and there’s no inconvenience involved. The purchase of ammunition is seamless and quick for people who are law abiding.

Jamie’s Law would close this loophole by requiring all buyers of ammunition to undergo an instant background check using the FBI National Instant Background Check System (NICS), the same quick and easy process that applies to the purchase of firearms. Participants will discuss these and related issues.


Looks like Dems want to kill on-line ammo sales, bog down NICS, and raise the cost of ammo purchases. Funny how the say less availability and higher costs are not an inconvenience.

you know like you have to fill out 4473 to vote or to redress your govt ..
then you wait for a ok or delay or deny .. and if you pass then there is 10 to 30 day wait time ..

The NICS system will break if it is expanded to be used for every ammunition purchase. Plus, the cost of the check can be challenged as a recurring tax on a right.

Soon they'll say you can only have a certain amount of rounds you can purchase or have in your home..NYC limits you to 200 rounds total.

Would this bill make it illegal for you to try out your gun using your ammo?
Would this law make it illegal for me to give you, for free, even one round of ammo? Is it a "purchase" if it is free?
Could you even pick up and dispose of a cartridge left by someone else at a range?

If laws work why do we need this law, they dont have guns.
If laws dont work, and people get illegal guns, why do we need another law that doesnt work?
