Ammuntion obscura: tell me about the .327 Magnum.

Yesterday at the range I was talking to a gentleman who had brought a brace of revolvers out. Among them was a Ruger Sp101 4" in .357 mag. I had never handled one much less shot one. I thought it was a spiffy little piece but found it a little snappy, especially compared to the S&W 686 he also had. I was also struck by how the Ruger represents what Glock fans have been wanting for ages: a compact grip with a more or less full length barrel. I can't help but think however that the .327 Federal is much better suited to the SP101, get a full 6 shots and less recoil. Is this cartridge even still around? Is it impossible to find? I've heard that ballistically the .327 is similar to a +p 9mm. Is that true? Anyone out there a fan of this caliber?

I have a Smith, and three Ruger in 327 magnum and love them I bought a Taurus in 327 magnum a few few years a go, took it out shooting bbq the next day day or so and took it to another gun shop and traded it off.
The ammo is available here locally and can be bought online.
I don't have much time right now, but the will write more later.

Another good thing about this caliber it can shoot,
32 short
32 Long
32 H&R magnum
And the 327 Federal magnum
And you get an extra round compare to the 357 magnum.

I did some reading myself and found that Ruger discontinued then the reinstated the SP101 in .327 and in the interim offered the LCR in the caliber. Speer offers a 110 grain Gold Dot load at 1300 fps. That is 9mm +p+ level.
Along the way I read that the .327 Federal magnum "is a niche cartridge, but a good one."
I really kinda want an SP101 in this caliber now.

The 327 Federal magnum revolvers are great shooting handguns. At least the S&W and Ruger revolvers are. Can't say that for the Taurus brand. I bougjt that one Taurus 327 revolver and couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

I bought a S&W 327 Federal magnum revolver off a Nyfirearms member a few years ago. I love that gun
It has a blue frame with a stainless barrel and stainless cylinder.

I bougjt two Ruger SP101s in 327, I sold one for $300 over what I paid for it. Still have the other one.
I bougjt a SP101 in 9mm at that time as well. We just shot the 9mm last weekend.

I found a 3 inch stainlesd Ruger GP100 in 327 federal magnum at a pawn shop and bought that one. This is a fun shooting set up.

The i ordered a stainless Ruger Single-seven.
I must of bought this a couple of years ago and it still sits up in the gun room unfired. I have dies and a bunch of brass in 32 short, 32 Long, 32 H&R magnum and 327 Federal magnum.
I loaded up a butt load of 32 long and 32 H&R ammo for my grandson to shoot the gp100.

We took that gun out a lot, with the 32 Long ammo it is like shooting a 22lr revolver..
