Analysts: China’s Plans for Cuba May Go Beyond Spy Base​

WASHINGTON — Top U.S. lawmakers are calling on the Biden administration to brief Congress on the spy station China is allegedly building in Cuba, but American analysts fear that China’s plans for America’s backyard may go beyond intelligence gathering.

If a war over Taiwan were to break out, these analysts warn, the Chinese military could operate in Latin America and the Caribbean to disrupt U.S. military operations or even strike the continental U.S.

In a June 22 letter to CIA chief William Burns and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, chairman of Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Republican Representative Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, requested that detailed information on China’s activities in Cuba be provided by July 14.

I'm not sure you quite understand the consequences *to us* if China invades Taiwain....

60% of all chips manufactured anywhere in the world come from Taiwain.

90% of all advanced ones.

Until we can fix that, it is a obviously a major US national defense concern if China controlled that.

An invasion would likely destroy that capacity, and it could take a decade or more to rebuild.

The global economic impact would be devastating.

Honestly I think we should be leasing fucking nukes to the Taiwain government the way we do for the UK, just to ensure that China doesn't think they can get frisky.

We should probably have enough ships and troops training with the Taiwain defense forces at aby given time to make the Chinese *know* they can't invade without incurring our wrath too.

What we need to worry about is the Cuba base and the Adirondack base and the proposed Texas and Dakota bases to put EMP nukes into for the day. NYS Patriots might occupy the Adirondacks to prevent CCP movements out, come the day.

I was expressing what I think China's terms will be to USA to remove base in Cuba.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis Nikita Krushchev agreed to remove missiles from Cuba, but US had to remove Jupiter missiles from Turkey

Yea, but things were a lot different in the cold war.

For one, there were 2 superpowers that were in theory more evenly matched. China is an economic rival, but there is only one superpower militarily now, and for the immediate future it's us.

China is maybe #2 in the world militarily now that Russia has been exposed as a paper tiger, and at best they could maybe defend their own territory against a US invasion. There is no way they can successfully invade any place we are determined to defend, and everyone knows it.

They have nukes and ICBMs, but nothing like superpower levels. They are not capable of the MAD doctrine the way the Soviets were during the cold war (or maybe Russia today).

We are the 800lb gorilla in the world, and we'd best use that for good, or Xi will rise up to challenge us.

There is nobody in the world besides China who would complain about us defending Taiwain (and most of our allies would probably chip in to help). That sort of force projection *is* what our military is for.

The world is a prison yard, not a nice neighborhood in the suburbs. Our rivals are cut throat murderers, not soccer moms.
