We,ve been whacked at least 3 times in the past 30 years with a 5 cent a gallon extra tax dedicated solely to repairing roads and bridges that is added to the fed grants and other taxes accumulated for road repairs...like tolls and such. He gets the money....favorite contractors get the jobs...favorite contractors donate back to his election efforts....right in plain sight....what a rip off

NY had an opportunity to get federal monies, but they snubbed the feds and said no we will keep our tolls and not receive fed dollars. Besides appearing to be a poor state in need is a progressives Natural defense.

The problem and the scam is this stuff is all fungible. Even if the increase literally and exactly goes toward roads, thus pretending that it has done what was expected, it just means that money that otherwise might have gone there no longer does. Another way to look at it is, absent any money from stuff like a gas tax, is the total spent on roads from the general coffer the same, or different because of the tax? It's different; it's less; they use the gas tax to let them send money elsewhere; without that tax they'd be forced to divert funds they no longer are. So with the money they no longer have to divert, it goes to other pet projects. And that's how you end up doing things like paying for everyone to go to college.

Sounds to me like King Cuomo is scared that all his neglect of upstate could come back to bite him in the ass, just like it did Hillary in the general election. He's probably doing damage control since it might not be as simple as he thinks to win this time around. That's my guess.

Neither Andy nor his constituents are that bright. One of these days a critical utility will bite the big one in one of his metropolis areas and it'll be down hill in a hurry. I've lived through several short term blackouts in NYC, when it's dark it's a jungle. NYC is a difficult city to resupply and difficult to evacuate from. Potable water as a natural resource is not plentiful either.

I got zero problems with money being spent on fixing infrastructure no matter the inflated numbers and illegal kickbacks. This shit is way past due. It's bridges,roads and electric that should be priority, if it only sewers then FUAC, I'm private Septic!
