I remember when "Hooah" was just becoming popular in the Army, the Air Force tried to copy it with "Air Power"...Not kidding....Then my super nerdy command staff wanted to change it and pushed us all to say "Air and Space Power"....still not kidding.

What is your opinion on the subject? I think it's wasteful and redundant. You only need 2 services. Ground forces and air and naval. I think we could save more money and have things run more smoothly without services tripping over one another if the Navy provided the sea and air and the Marines or Army provided the ground units.

Whether it should be the Marines or the Army is another discussion but having 2 ground forces is stupid. Often times you need liasons just for the 2 to be able to work together.

Are the Marines not part of the Navy? I always thought they were.

The Marines are part of the Navy but they are used as conventional Army and the Army are used as Marines as well.

IE Marines in Afghanistan and Army storming beaches in Normandy.

Personally I think its a good idea. At its most basic level it wouldn't be a bad idea to get some kind of defense system up there to tackle shit like rogue asteroids and whatnot. That could decimate the planet. More covert, wouldn't be a bad idea to have systems in place years ahead of other countries. Even if not necessarily in full operation still having decades of research could put us ahead in an arms race.
