Well of course had to start it out with a little fishing...not much just some sunfish but it wasn't a wash. Then my youngest boy and I went out for some sighting in.
1st thing, I had to choose my hunting gun this year. I went with my trusty beater field gun. Browning A Bolt II in 3006. Didn't work up reloads (been lazy) so I went with 150gr Core-locks. Not bad since I did have to remount my scope this year. Got her close to 1moa at 100yds using factory ammo.
2nd thing, had to christen my CVA Optima V2 muzzleloader. Ok try it at 100yds with 100gr white hots and Hornady 250gr SST sabots not even on paper. Some adjustments...low and left, some more still nothing.... so fuck this go to 50yds and after 2 more shots hitting center. Probably did 10 shots and damn, trying to get that bullet seated was a bitch.
Needless to say 50 and less is average for a kill where I hunt due to density. So I guess I have a 50yd zero.
Question: Reticle has holdover marks for ever 25yds up to 275 assuming 100yd zero. Will those same holdovers give me 25yds each with a 50yd zero? I know there are variables but assuming same load and bullet any thoughts?
Btw...both guns already cleaned and time for a whiskey on the rocks.....cheers
