Antique long gun transfer?

Hello everyone,

I received an long gun that qualifies as an antique weapon as a gift when I was a minor, purchased by my father. Is there some process that I need to go through to legally become the owner of the firearm now that I am 21? I've tried finding information about this, but it seems to be really vague and I haven't been able to get a straight answer.

you got it from your dad .. it was yours the day you got it .. antique or not its yours .. nothing to do .. except shoot it if shootable

You're the legal owner of it. Parents can give their children firearms.

That's what I figured, but I just wanted to be totally sure so as to not be at risk of potentially getting into some trouble.

You mentioned 21 ... are you in one of the borrows because age for long guns is 18. Its still yours per NY law but may need to yours register under NYC Law. If your not in the city ... Its yours no paperwork required, Unless your a felon or a nutter then you cant have it.
