Any FFL Dealers get a letter about NY STATE?

An FFL I know said he got a letter with his renewal stating that a "New Service" in NY that will allow gun owners to "Safe Harbor" their guns with any FFL or Police Dept if they are going away on vacation.
SO by transferring your guns to an FFL for a week or two as you shuffle off from Buffalo, sounds very responsible and you are doing your part to keep guns out of the hands of the burglar that will break into your house. What a wonderful caring responsible citizen you are. You are doing your part to keep your neighbors safe.

However, to retrieve your own gun and have them transferred back to you, will require a 4473 and background check, wouldn't it?

I smell a RAT as in democRAT. Look for a new law that will make it a crime to leave firearms in your house unattended if you are out of town.

This sneaky Caring about SAfety action would generate a total list of all your firearms in a BATF computer that didn't exist when you bought them. The ones your dad brought home from WWII the ones your uncle gave you before 1968 GCA and on and on.
REMEMBER THIS: There can never be confiscation without registration.
Call me paranoid but trust me on this but I sense Andrew Cuomo in January saying "Forget what the extremist say! Nobody should leave guns in a house when they are in Florida! Nobody NEEDS 10 GUNS IN THEIR HOUSE WHEN THEY AREN'T THHEEERREEE!"

If I had any, tragic high temperature fire, I would lock them in my home and pressure my government to pass a law that breaking and entering, robbery are against the law.

If my guns are locked up, doesn't that absolve me of liability here? I made the attempt to keep them inaccessible to anyone but myself.

That's like saying "Hey, this guy broke into your house and was cooking and burned the building down. So I guess it means you're liable for your neighbor's house burning down."

Yeah I got one. It is optional. I am not sure what to make of it or if i want to do the survey.

I am thinking that the state would invite people to do this and then require a NICs to get them back or something. Currently if someone gives me a gun to work on i put it in my Gunsmithing book which is different from the my A&D book and they are not required to do NICs to get it back. I see the state start this program with the catch of doing NICs to get them back.

I also think this could be a way for the state to come in and "inspect" your shop or place of business to see if you have a "safe" place to store people's firearms.

You *should* be right but this state is stupid. If someone hops my fence that has no trespassing signs on it and they drown in my safety covered pool I'm still held legally liable for some damn reason.

I don't own any guns, guns are icky.
Especially those black military style super duper assaulty high powered ones.

Those black guns are capable of blowing an airliner right out of the sky you know.

In reality. Guns locked up in a gun safe in a secure dwelling. Bonus points for good exterior lighting.
That alone is being a responsible gun owner and Cuomo can eat a bag of dicks.

Easier to go to one place place and pick up hundreds of guns at a time rather than go to hundreds of places and get one gun at a time.

They're probably looking to put the gun violence blame on legal gun owners.

Meanwhile, it's NYS that created the firearms owner registry to make it easy for your guns to be stolen -- yet seems to be looking to make you liable for someone breaking into your own home.

Honestly, and I keep saying this, if they get more restrictive... I'm sending my guns down to TX to my uncle in law and just be done with it.

What about the fees? They left that part out. Im sure NYS isnt going to babysit and store them for nothing. Thens theres the background check that the FFl's may have to run. Of course theres always a chance you get a DWI and they keep them.

The State attempting to create a requirement that if left unattended, that firearms must be secured by qualified personnel? Babysit? And once at an FFL, is the State notified of such possession? Can then seize as necessary? Need justification for return of property?

Silly rabbit... Just NO!!!

Guns stay where they always are, not a problem!

And oh, will they make it a requirement that the person who "house sits" be licensed to be in possession of said arms because their control over them, even if secured (safe, etc)...

What happens inside the confines of my home is sacred... Encroach as you may, but proceed with extreme caution! Don't tell me how to live, or how to be happy... Just a big go Fuck You!

My liability detector is going off on that one. Probably not worth assuming more liability as a shop owner, from a biz perspective.

All I know is: the SA part of NY Secure Ammunition Firearms Enforcement Act was never implemented because ATF said no way. This time it appears as if they went to ATF first to iron out kinks. Could even be a future plan for Biden. NY State is now DemocRAT super majority and with Biden they are going to make 2013 look like a walk in the park.
