Any gunsmiths in the Central/Upstate NY area that can help?

Hi all,

I done fucked up. I managed to get an empty lacquered steel case (Barnaul, if you're curious) stuck in my Ishapore 2A and now it wont come out at all. The extractor sheered off the part of the rim it catches on as well. To make things matters worse, when i tried to push it out with a cleaning rod & brush, I managed to get the brush and rod stuck inside the empty casing as well. I've tried heating the chamber and smacking the rod/brush to no avail. At this point, only someone with the proper tooling can save this poor thing...

@RiceDrizzle, Wow, that is fugly, How much of the rod is stuck in the bore? What is the rod made from? Can you unscrew the rod? If yes, how much is left in the bore?

If the OP comes back, I'd start by placing the barreled action in a metal pan or bucket with the muzzle up and pour some lacquer thinner down the bore and then stuff a rag in the muzzle to prevent evaporation the let sit overnight. That should free up the case. If in the future this happens again do NOT have a brush on the cleaning rod!

I'd put the rod in a vice and turn the barrel assembly into the threads while pulling, this give the bristles on the cleaning brush a way to deflect and bend the way you want them and pull the assembly off. then take a dowel and drive the cartridge out.

Not sure about exact length but 2/3 of one of those three piece rods. Aluminum. Not unscrewable where it is now.

I'll try that thank you. I'll keep everyone updated. And yes, I now know what to do...should've thought about this more before I attempted anything.

Instead of lacquer thinner I would use Kroil.

I though the lacquer thinner was a good idea. Acetone would probably work too.

Yes it does, lacquer thinner as well, but maybe a bit more slowly, and both are flammable. Cheapo lacquer removes pretty easily though. Actually, I think lacquer thinner may have acetone in it.
