Wife is about to travel and my phone # is used when we fill anything out; thinking this is chicomflu related or yes scam was also my thought.

my mom gets notices from DVM for her car in Email .. she must have signed up on line and did the registration or something online ..
im using moms car now since my truck is broken and she sent me this a while ago ..

I don't get emails when the registration is due, and I certainly don't get emails when the NWSI is due (my project truck hasn't been inspected in a while since it failed, but I keep it registered to appease the HOA).
Whenever I get an email that appears to be from a business or interest I use i ALWAYS check the senders email and the server paths.
they can fake a return email, but the machines that actually carry the email from them to you will post the source and path in the email header. Learn to read it!

A flurry of DMV info to NYS kids, wife and myself has been snail mailed the last couple weeks and all has been legit but sometimes not even applicable (e.g. licenses expiring but they were long ago renewed, registrations expiring but were long ago renewed, message about new policy for 1 year grace for eye exam on on-line license renewal to a driver with no corrective lense restriction)

Yep. Got one Friday. The website link in the message is bogus.
I mean, if the DMV could text you successfully, it's a pretty safe bet that they have your contact info!
