Any shoulder holster users on here?

I typically carry using leather holsters, OWB on either hip, or pocket carry, and for backup, ankle carry. Been kind of partial to the Galco Hi-Fletch, and Desantis holsters, one Bianchi pancake, and one or two others. If I ever carry in bear country up in Alaska, I like the look of the Diamond D Alaskan Guide chest holster for my XVR460. Looks to be well made, comfortable, and functional.

Anyway, I've been spending more time driving, and being ambidextrous, I got interested in shoulder holsters since pocket or ankle draw is not very practical. Seems like there is a lot of stuff out there to consider. I bought a Triple K rig (#274) for an M&P Shield, in part because I prefer the thumb snap retention / release over a strap design, and because they have both left and right holsters that can be swapped in and out with a two mag holder. I suppose that if I really wanted to, I could carry two Shields - one that would be easy to right hand draw in case of outside threats, and the other side draw for inside the vehicle or passenger side threats.

So far, it seems pretty comfortable, and well concealed under a light jacket.

I'm curious to hear from others out there regarding their experiences if they shoulder carried. Also, what about the angle you carry your gun at. Do you prefer to set it with the barrel canted a bit down so that the grip is right where you want to grab it, or?

Anybody have any comments or suggestions either way, and any preferences as to brands, etc.?

I had a Galco Miami Classic for a Glock 19 that I used for a while, but the guy I bought it from cut the straps for a custom fit and I really couldn't adjust it to my specs. Later on I grabbed a 1911 version so I could carry that platform but I didn't warm up to it weight wise. I have been sticking to IWB for most carry. I will say that the Galco did move better and lay flatter than another brand (can't remember now) that I friend had in Florida. Still thinking about another Galco style for a G43 that's made out of suede.

I wear a concealed carry vest. When I tell you, NO ONE WILL KNOW you're carrying a firearm, I mean it. These vests are unbelievably comfortable. The gun will never "print".

there is only two way's anyone will know you're carrying a firearm. They give you a hug or you pull it out and use it

Nice product! Essentially, I have the same thing in my motorcycle vest,- it is also perfect for concealing when I ride. Not always suitable for other occasions though...

Man, I was just thinking about getting one for my G19. With the cold weather coming, and getting into new profession where concealed carry is accepted, I thought it would be a great alternative to OWB.
Do you use a strap that attaches to your belt to keep it from moving or bouncing around?

Well, if Princess Qhomo's NY(UN)SAFE didn't screw us over and restrict our magazine capacities, I'd be just fine with carrying just one 33 round magazine! LOL!

I do carry additional mags, but 4? I'm an old guy, - not a packhorse!

I saw that some of them have those additional straps, but that seemed to me to be cumbersome, - probably a good fit in one stance and then either too loose or too tight if I go from standing to sitting and then standing again...

Anyway, I have not had any problem with it bouncing or moving around so far...

I have worn mine under a sport coat. I have worn it to places I probably shouldn't have, but I was always comfortable and confident. I never worried about being "outted"

I've yet to take the plunge myself. My problem with shoulder carry is it's so damn expensive. I've wanted to carry this way around my property and woods for sometime now, I just haven't had the money yet. Here's one I've been wanting to get, plus he's local to me.

I placed a "WANTED SHOULDER HOLSTER, MIAMI CLASSIC" on the local hunting forum last winter and bought one that fits the Glock 17, I just picked up a new Glock 17 a few weeks ago and have carried it some since then. The holster I bought is actually a Galco Jack-Ass. It is comfortable the way it is set up, but I want to re-adjust it some for when I am driving.

I suggest buy a used one from E-bay or on one of the forums, it you don't like it you can sell it and re-coup most of your money.

My shoulder holster conceals my Glock 17 decent under a Camo Dickies button up shirt similar to a button up Carhart shirt.

I did buy a couple of other shoulder holsters that didn't fit right that I need to dispose of. One I bought was a huge piece of shit.
I am very pleased with the Galco set up.

I use the Galco with that strap(s) you mention. For me it is similar to suspenders - does not cause issue when transition from sit to stand. The reason I use the straps is two fold. First, it reduces printing in my application. Second, it improves draw because the strap helps keep the holster in its proper place. Without the straps to the belt the draw can be fumbled in my experience.

I have a Bianchi x16 harness with two holsters for Colts Detective Specials to make it a double rig with two speed loader poches as well. I also have the same x16 for a 1911. I like it a lot when I carry the 1911 under a jacket. I carry two mags plus the one in the gun.

I just got back from the Washington State Fair in Monroe, got there this morning at 10am. Carried my Glock 17 all day there under a thin dress shirt comfortably and as far as I could tell unnoticed.
