I literally just bought a Lee Enfield SMLE with a four-digit serial number and it has a bunch of armorer's stamps on the receiver. I believe eight in total believe it or not. With it being such a low serial number and with as many proof marks on it, I can honestly say it was indeed an issued rifle in World War 1 and maybe the second one as well. only problem is that it was sportorized some time in its life and I'm trying to bring her back to former glory. Any help on a stock (top and bottom) and a front hardware set would be amazing! ill have pictures up soon!

libertytreecollectors.com will have a lot of what you need, try sarco inc and gun parts corp also. Even EBay.
The two piece handguard with the wood fingers that go around the rear sight are going to be a pain to find intact, same with the forestock that is not from an Indian SMLE. But the hunt is fun .

Yes the barrel and front sight are intact.

The problem with sporterized arms is the fact that these surplus guns were so common for stupid low prices and guys couldn't afford a Remington 700. 303 British is a hard hitting round and I'm sure this was made into a hunting rifle for someone.

Check out those non functioning rifles they sell for like $200. I remember seeing them recently in the last year or two. I believe they were SMLE’s It would make a good donor.

The stocks are easy to find.

I have a No5 MK1 Jungle Carbine I restored. I chopped up a No3 stock and did some woodwork to make a temporary stock. I'll eventually get a full replacement stock built for it.
