I just got into NRA bullseye shooting this year and I am really hooked on it. The problem I am finding is that a lot or should I say MOST of the pro style pistols are considered assault weapons here in NY. Most other States that have "Safe Act" like laws have exemptions for Olympic style pistols but NY does not. I sent off a few emails to State officials about an exemption but received nothing back. Any idea's what it would take to get the State to consider a exemption like this?
I would love to own a Pardini but because of the forward mag design it is illegal to own here. I have found two pistols that don't have a forward mag design but I have no idea if they are legal here. The first one is being made by Chiappa and has the 5 round mag that loads into the top of the receiver and the second one is make by Matchguns and has the 5 round tube mag mounting into the front of the pistol. How would I find out if either of these is considered an assault weapon or not? View attachment 42686
