I know there are "special" cans made to be buried, seems kind of excessive but kind of cool. Anyone bury ammo, money, supplies, etc.? If so, why? Why should I?

if you have to hike to another location .. would be good to have some ammo there that has not been stolen .. and you don't have to carry 500 + rounds on your back . ..

yep, and for can testing purposes use rocks, sand, anything but good ammunition duh...

Food saver vacuum pack items inside the ammo can first is a nice extra step i'd imagine.

Using a ton of plastic coating on the cans also protects them and makes them water proof.

Why? Well I know people that have buried things in home made PVC canisters because they are, or were, law abiding people caught up in a state where the line of legality eclipsed their constitutional God given rights.

Harbor Freight plastic cans. I make an O-ring type seal using caulk, fill them and bury them.
Ammo, cash, whatever.

I’ve thought of doing the plastic pvc tube thing. Having a bunch ready Incase I need to bury more than ammo.

They're a couple of bucks more expensive, but the surplus 81mm mortar tubes work well too.

I have a single can I bought maybe by American eagle it is 30 rounds in nitrogen sealed, cost $.50/rd for 5.56 but I only got it for the heck of it. I don’t see a particular need to bury anything. PVC welded properly would outlast your grand kids if you vacuum sealed the bullets first.
A shallow bury of something like an ammo can I don’t see lasting years because frost heave will have the ground shift a bit each winter. Seal both ends some fat PVC you could drive a tank over it.

Yep, PVC, and make it at least 6"! You can even get end caps with screw out's that seal, that way you don't have to dig so deep upon recovery.

What ever you use I would wrap in that light plastic sheeting used to secure items on a pallet. Lowes or HD has it and comes on a maybe a 1000 ft. or yd. roll x 18" or 24" wide w/handles. Wrap it up good, don't scrimp. Criss cross, overlap every which way. Works good.
