It's very much like living behind the iron curtain so to speak .
I've also lived in a few other states, southern states, and I agree. The vast majority in NY don't seem to care about their rights being taken away. Also, too many listen to mainstream liberal BS, and it's sadly brainwashed and conditioned them to be NPC's.I've also lived in a few other states, southern states, and I agree. Maybe this is because you are fairly new to this “state” and don’t understand that there is absolutely nothing can be done legally to get the tyrants to quit killing our rights. The democraptic system has a choke hold on all legal proceedings and the republicans preach a good show but also do zip. Aka Ortt as one of them. Democraps lose 85 percent of the counties but win an election by a landslide. This has been happening for decades with a rare upset. Get out while you have your sanity

At some point I plan to. In NY for family reasons. Not that there’s nothing I like in NY, but it’s not my kind of place. Hell, I don’t have winter skills, either. That’s a waste of half a year right there. Growing up in coastal California, snow was this thing on TV. Or you could drive three hours to the Sierras and visit it on your own terms.I've also lived in a few other states, southern states, and I agree. There`s lots of things to do in NYS winter times. Buy a fukking snowmobile, some skis, some god damn snow shoes, go ice fishing and stop your fukkin whining. At some point I plan to. Raynaud’s disease limits my time outside regardless. Also, driving in snow isn’t as terrifying as it was, but it’s not something I do for leisure time. Y’all grew up in it, and it’s a skill you take for granted. This old dog ain’t picking up the new tricks too quickly. There`s lots of things to do in NYS winter times. Sure, except that’s NOT AT ALL what is being discussed here. Not even close. Re-read the title question again. If you legally buy a stripped lower at an FFL, filling out a 4473, and you DO NOT have a semi-auto purchase permit, and then build said lower into a semi-auto rifle, at what point did you TAKE POSSESSION of that semi-auto rifle? The new SA permit is required “to purchase or take possession of” a semi-auto rifle.that part where if you already have SAR's before the fucking law and your in possession part ..
As a former lifelong New Yorkistan resident (majority in NY, but have also lived in 8 other states across the USA), I will say there is actually a lot to love about NY that I love (upstate), and will always miss, - now living down here in the Carolinas. At some point I plan to. People like the sense of humor I’ve picked up in Texas, but once they get to know me they tend to be a little repulsed. NY and I don’t get along on a lot of levels, from laws like we are discussing here to just a basic cultural clash. I’ll never understand how so many people live in the northeast, but apparently it’s awesome.
Didn`t you already blab your mouth once before about this? Oh wait, yeah, you did.
Go find some place else to blab your new famed freedom besides coming back into a NY gun forum to piss on other gun owners.
Now go have a bad day, and i hope your legs grow together so that you can`t run away anymore!
Lol, some people... Jeeeeeze!
Well, that’s the longer version of what I could say. Everywhere I’ve lived is a mixed bag, but I was able to adapt much more easily than I can in NY. I do have plenty of things I could list in the “awesome” column in NY, but I’m very much a fish out of water there. Employment is tough when you’re not a “go along to get along” kind of person and the social norms around you very much frown on that. Hell, I’m afraid to even say the word gun for fear some numbskull will instantly think I’m that gun nut who’s a threat to society, calling the cops on me.As a former lifelong New Yorkistan resident (majority in NY, but have also lived in 8 other states across the USA), I will say there is actually a lot to love about NY that I love (upstate), and will always miss, - now living down here in the Carolinas.
Now, what drove me out of NY were things that included: insanely high taxes; a poor business climate compared to many, many other states; liberal politics; unrelenting attacks on my 2A rights, and other things. Winter weather WAS NOT one of them.
Things that I loved include: most people there; fantastic food; a full four seasons with perfect summers; no seasonal allergies or lawn mowing in the winter; a fresh coating of snow mornings in winter; the beauty of the land upstate, and the Adirondacks in particular; the abundant water; great Canadian beer just across the border, 20 minutes away; outdoor summer concerts; winter sports; heated car seats; and Schwabel’s in West Seneca for Beef on Weck.
People here in the Carolinas are kinder and gentler overall. But there are a lot of shitty drivers. Summers are hotter. And overall, their food is not as varied, or as good. 2A rights are well respected. Taxes are much less. Business climate is much better. Better politics.
No matter where you live, you make the best of it, and adapt. (Until it gets so bad you are forced to leave ,- like I did with New Yorkistan).
You're right, some people...
Maybe take a look l, a good long look in the mirror... keyboard tough guy!
I'll blab my fucking mouth all I like, here or elsewhere, I've earned it! Don't like it, block me so you don't have to see it, otherwise, as you say, stop fucking shinning about what others have to say or their opinions!
For the matter, I haven't pissed on any NY gun owners, but the fact you feel your leg wet isn't my problem, but more yours! You feel offended, trapped, fucked over? Great, do something about it!
And yeah, I'll enjoy my new freedom(s) and laugh my ass off every time I read about all the bullshit still going on in NY, and will be... And I'm still in/out of NY often. I get to enjoy both worlds, I am legal in NY and get to enjoy those freedoms as you say, to exercise my 2A Rights almost completely Inhibited elsewhere! Is great! And I'm glad I made the decision I did, not needing validation though by internet trolls.
Have a great day!

I expect the stats displayed are reflective of NYC and it's population versus the rest of the State...in the North Country and likely all above I-90 is 35~40 percent.View attachment 243477
because nys has one of the lowest percentage of gun owners at approximately 19%, out of all 48 continental United States (second only to Hawaii). Even the horrible California has approximately 28% of population legally own guns. Since the vast majority of NYers don’t own guns, why would they care about losing something they don’t have or care about.
View attachment 243478
now the good news is that back in 2015 the percentage of nys that legally owned guns was approximately 10%. Given that the number of gun owners in roughly 10 years has almost doubled despite so many leaving the state speaks volumes. Despite nys best efforts the number of legal gun owners keeps growing. One of the best things we can do is introduce more and more new people to firearms and get them hooked on it.
And how many guns got moved around in private for many decades in NYS before the tyrants made THAT illegal AND unconstitutional. You`re exactly right, they are 100% inaccurate. They are just guessing.I expect the stats displayed for NY are 100% inaccurate.
Just look at the difference between reality and what NYS thinks regarding how many NY'ers own those super dangerous ARs.
And with regular long-rifles and shotguns not having to be registered (at least upstate) they have no way of knowing who has what unless they are going FFL to FFL and copying the books.
