I have the basic model Worksharp and a Lansky set that I've used for a couple decades. The Worksharp put on a good edge fast, and very sharp, the Ken Onion version isp robably on my wish list.
I bought the KO model a couple months ago. There is a learning curve and I haven’t learned it yet. I’ve only tried it a few times. Just haven’t wanted to get into it lately
Just an FYI, you can get a leather strop for the original work sharp

I agree their printed material is crap.Reviving instead of reposting a new thread - finally ordered one for myself after much debate. Got it yesterday, love it already. Definitely does a nice job touching up the edge of the knife.
My only question/concern is that they label the sharpening edges depending on what you're doing, but that can be misleading. They say 20 is for kitchen knives and 25 is for hunting/pocket knives. Touched up my Ken Onion CRKT and found that with the 25 edge, it immediately changed the shape/angle of the edge. I switched to the 20 (after looking it up online) and it has been fine since. I should have just treated it like my Smith's and noted which edge was which and disregarded their labeling.
I still need a better touch so I don't round off the tip
That said, I'm glad I bought it, I'll definitely be using it for my hatchet as well.
I use Arkansas oil stones, Puts a surgical edge on my carving gouges and knives, then I just strop them when Im using them . Cuts wood like it was hard butter . But I was looking at the work sharp.
I still have my Smith's but for the time it took to set it all up, I'm already done w/ the Worksharp. If I've got time and I'm watching TV or something, I can sitdown and setup the clamp tool and do the stones and put a good edge on it. When I forgot to do it ahead of time and need an edge yesterday, I will definitely give the WS a shot. I'm going to compare and see how it does w/ the kitchen knives.
Also, is there an edge "type" or blade that will most likely have a 50° edge over my CRKT's 40? Is it case by case? Not a knife or edge expert by any means, so I am wondering which pocket/hunting knives will have which edge.
