Been hunting with my 44 super redhawk for years , I picked up a 1911 in 10mm last year and I’d like to take that on a hog hunt . So tell me whatcha got ..
Been using a Super Blackhawk for years.Taken deer out to only about 70 yds.As for hogs, I took one at only 10 yds.........took 11 shots to drop it.As it went by at about 20 ft I hit it 5 times in the shoulder area.It ran a distance and turned back, one more shot to the chest, reload as the guide is over my shoulder screaming hit it again, could only get 5 rounds reloaded when he got too close, 2 head shots, one in his open mouth and 2 more in the shoulder before it dropped. All solid hits, when we got back to the lodge, all the guides were scratching their heads calling the hog superman.I wouldnt recommend using a 10mm for hogs, they are tough as nails.I picked up a 1911 in 10mm last year and I’d like to take that on a hog hunt .
Mine is .44 mag, 7 1/2".I can hit something at 100 yds no problem but I wouldnt try that distance for a kill.Hell, at my age, I dont even want to walk 100 yds to gut it.A Blackhawk in .41 magnum, 6 1/2 inch barell, is effective on deer inside 50 yards which is an average shot around here.
I usually carry both, because I’m a badass and I like to be overly armed against those poor defenseless deers.Ruger Super Blackhawk, stainless 7-1/2". Used to love walking hands free. Since 2005 when rifles became legal in the Southern Zone portion of Oswego County, not so much anymore, although I do carry it occasionally.
I don't like the range limitation of a handgun. I have 2 lanes where a 200 yard shot is a possibility, and I'd prefer not to lose an opportunity.
