Anyone plan to use BRIGHT SPOTLIGHTS as a Home Defense strategy ?

Just thinking, that if you had some very bright lights pointing away from your home, that had remote control, you could hunker down until the assailant came close, then flip the lights, pop up and fire while they are blinded.

Would this work under certain scenarios ?

I have lots of bright lights outside my house. My intent isn't to blind anyone. My intent is to see what the hell is out there so I can deal with it accordingly.

I also enjoy not tripping over stuff, and being able to see the keyhole in the door.

Agree all around.

I will say that a few months ago I moved around some of the lighting as I realized it was useful but from a security perspective- only lighting up or shadowing ME on the perimeter of the house, as opposed to giving me defensive advantage.

They dont do that anymore.

I'd rather be able to create Total Darkness outside, so as to make the approach more difficult.

Hard to do with a Street Light right there, granted.

You're more likely to have a racoon tearing into your garbage cans or a deer in the garden than Seal Team Delta raiding your fridge.

I assume you can turn it on/off quickly.

I am combining multiple different outdoor floodlight locations and switches around the house so I can control all of them and flood them on if need be using WiFi enabled light switches and wireless devices.

Eh? Hackers can have at it at turning the flood lights on and off. Nothing is impenetrable in today’s society. Just have to gauge the amount of risk your willing to take and it’s final effect on you. For me, turning lights on and off are really the least of my concerns.
