Anyone shoot one of these S&W Mod 60's?

Been looking for a Model 65 but the Model 60 is intriguing, would like to hear from anyone that has shot one of these J Frame 357 revolvers AKA "baby L frame". (They don't give them away)

I have a 2" Model 940 that I like.

My wife and I have shared ownership of the 3" mod 60 just like the first one listed. This is the gun she uses most often. Great sights, great trigger. She does not use .357 or even .38 +p. She also shoots the 3" .22LR 317. She likes to shoot them single action. I can shoot a few rounds of .357 in the mod 60. but I wouldn't do a full day at the range. I shoot "J" frames a lot. The accuracy difference from a 3" barrel to a 2" barrel is noticeable. Good value firearm. When we travel together and can only secure one gun through the trip, the Mod 60 is the one we take.

You may want to also consider the Ruger SP101 in .357. It is the same size and dimensionally identical. Quite a few members on here have one. It was my first carry gun, and I still love it. Has a pretty good kick when shooting .357 magnums. Firing .38 specials is very easy on the shooter.

Nothing against Ruger..just that I have been carrying S&W and J frames for about 40 years now. I really like my 9mm 940 but would like a J frame with adjustable sights. Man when did J frame start selling for $600 plus?

I am a big S&W fan as well. I have a number of their revolvers and semi-auto's. When I was first looking for a CCW gun, the Model 60 was my first choice, but I found a great deal on the Sp101, so I bought it used. One other minor item. The Ruger has a transfer bar while the S&W Model 60 using a hammer nose. Also, check the Ruger site, - they do offer the SP101 with adjustable sights as well.

I have seen Ruger's for sale at a reasonable price, - my neighbor traded his in to Cabela's and got $275.00 for it. A good used one could probably be had for a lot less than the $600 + price of the Model 60. I don't see them around very often.

Like I said..nothing against the Ruger...but I have extra J frame grips, J frame speed-loaders, holsters etc. Even found a stash of S&W 547 speed-loaders!

Model 60 was my first handgun. Still have it. Had very bad FTF issues with it. Sent back to S&W three times. Timing advance was not right. Seems to be good now but have never carried it for SD due to the problems. Only revolver I've ever owned. Have bought pistols since due to the problems. Mine had a shorter barrel than the one in OP though. Not sure if that matters.
