Anyone tried a StopBox chamber lock ? Good or bad solution I wonder.

I happened to see an ad for these in my browsing. I don't know that I really have use for such a thing (no kids, etc and so on), buuuut, it might still be good for some applications.
It's a bit pricey, at around $112 when I checked, but I suppose if that actually translates to quality then I'd certainly want something well made that wasn't going to fail mechanically.

Still have storage issues with this device. If you really have to lock the chamber, you need to lock up the gun itself.

Warriorpoet's opinion on this can be summarily ignored because he sells this item through his site, so he is an untrustworthy source. LPL showed that for $149 it's just a toy. Six possible combinations and anybody can break through it in 30 seconds by tricking its mechanism.

-Hardly any combinations so a kid or person who watches a quick youtube vid will be able to crack it.

-If it’s in your house or car it doesn’t look like it has a cable integrated into it so it doesn’t prevent theft and will be easily defeated later.

It seems like it would be an ok device to comply with a locking regulation but other than that...idk

I think Chris Costa articulates a reasonable use case here, though it's for the pistol box, not the AR. Basically, you don't want to directly carry the gun, but are monitoring the general area where it would be secured. So someone can't just grab it and you can intervene if someone starts trying to get in. You can tell he's intentionally downplaying how secure it actually is.

There's also another video, on the company's site surprisingly, that shows a kid opening it in less than 2 minutes, though he was given a bit of a clue as to how the lock works.

Exactly my thoughts. I like the idea and the design though. This is why I never went with a Fort Knox string box because the limited combinations and I have teenagers.
