They did once rule that a shoelace is a machinegun, so I wouldn't put anything past them.
Note: Not just that the gun modified with the shoelace was a machinegun, but that the shoelace itself was also a machinegun.
They did eventually restore some sanity, but their official stance for several years was that a shoelace *was* a machinegun.

But it’s not though according to ATF’s own definition of what a machine gun is. Also there is currently an ongoing court case regarding these type of triggers, and so far the ATF has not be to able to demonstrate in court how this is a machine gun.
That won't stop them from illegal search & seizure.

And this is why we cannot fix what is broken.
There are more guns in the Rural areas and the Suburbs than the big cities, in regards to real, serious crimes, the overwhelming majority of crimes are committed in the cities.
Gotta be willing to have an open and an honest discussion of why this is?
