Unfortunately, I can't make that date, otherwise I'd be there.

Is there a new long distance range in Orleans, NY? I'd definitely like to get into future matches or just go to the range to do some shooting.

I can't seem to find many long distance facilities in NY.

To bad i cant run my gas gun.

It is sad when shooting clubs confuse their job with those of the police.

What makes them think my gas gun violates the safe act? It does not.

Too bad. Gun onwers and ranges are their own worst enemies.

I wont shoot the match with my bolt gun Either, due to their policy of policing. Too bad they alienate shooters in such a way. Instead of banning together they alienate.

Facepalm.

It's to protect the guys coming from outside of NY, that may not know the NY SAFE Act provisions.

Sounds like more police work. A simple suggestion to not bring a gas gun from outta state would work.

But hey, what do i know? Not my match.

I dont run my matches like that. We run big boy rules. I am the match director, not a cop or lawyer.

Just write the rules as a bolt gun match only then. Dont call it a PRS match cause PRS matches have gas gun divisions.

Bullet guy. PRS has Bolt Action Matches and Gas Gun Matches. I'm holding a Bolt Action Match. Maybee it's people like you that the PRS never came to NY before. Maybe it's guys like you that rather act like tough guys on the internet and troll than do something about it. It's a Bolt Action Only Match, if you want to shoot your gas gun host your own match.

How many more matches after this one?

Also, have you talked to Curt Drewel over at Long Gun Training? He has got a pretty significant precision rifle crowd that he teaches in western NY. He might have some interested shooters to send your way.

Appreciate the clarification, there's a legitimate risk to guys out of state for sure. As you already know, there's justifiably a lot of sensitivity from those those of here in NY with compliant gas guns that don't violate SAFE, so perhaps a bolt/gas match somewhere in the future could be a option.

You never know. But when jackwagons hiding in mommy's basement come off as tough guys it definitely turns people off from helping the bigger cause. I understand there are guys with compliant guns, but if I keep it to bolt action only, I don't have to worry about Cuomo's Gestapo sniffing around.

Upstate 43 no I haven't heard of him, but I'll look him up. There will be a total of 5 matches this year. It's all the vacation time I vCard an afford and still hit some PRS Matches for myself to shoot

Definitely do that. I don't think he is affiliated with PRS per se (at least he wasn't when I last saw him), but he is known within the precision rifle community. Former USMC scout sniper. I believe he does private instruction for local LE's as well.

He may have some students who want to put their classwork to use. I keep hoping to find a long distance range to stretch my legs on, but for now some PRS match work may be a good avenue.

Who are the "two" you are addressing?

Post count doesn't mean jack squat in terms of actual experience. I hope this match, and the follow-up ones do well. NY needs more PRS-style matches like this.

no, post count doesn't mean anything to SHOOTING, but when it comes to a forum, I think it means a lot. You guys didn't even introduce yourselves to this forum....I'm no Admin here, but a little about yourselves probably would have gone a long way...JM 2 cents

Chamorro, I've been shooting the PRS for 3 years now. When I started talking about doing something in NY last year, guys from around the Country thought it was a great idea, but were concerned about NY laws. Some matches have pistol stages, but I'm avoiding those, so there are no problems for guys out of State with that either. Until NY gun owners stop the in fighting, nothing will ever change. It's a Bolt Action Only Match because it is the best way to do it for shooters coming from PA, MD, OH, NH, or even Canada. Stop the in fighting and be glad NY may be getting some recognition for putting on a quality match. I know the NYS Legislators from the region are pro-gun, let's give them economic reasons to support us, by showing local hotels, restaurants, and other businesses that we are bringing money to their area and maybe they will help convince other areas that gun owners aren't the enemy.

I'm not sure what the original beef was, or why I'm getting lumped into it. I wasn't arguing with anyone, but rather was providing feedback on some long range networking opportunities.

As for introductions, this is an internet forum, and a gun one at that. I'll be more than happy to introduce myself to people who actually want to meet up for target shooting (competition or otherwise). I've got no interest in giving out my information to a bunch of internet know-it-all's, who comprise a large portion of these forums. Not trying to be a debbie-downer, but I've visited enough of these forums to know what goes on.

I'm sure it was addressed to me as one of the parties. I have been speaking with the PRS for over a year now about what they expect from a Match Director for 1-Day Club Matches. I have over $6000 invested in steel, $3000 in barricades, $3000 in spotting scopes, $1500 in timing and scoring electronics, and the permission from the PRS to advertise my matches as PRS Points Matches. I don't expect to make my money back for 2 years, especially after I buy a trailer to haul everything up there and back. So to have someone who has no idea about the PRS or that claims to be a Match Director that uses big boy rules claim that it's not a PRS Match, when it's actually listed as a PRS Points Match on the PRS Website, I guess I felt I had to clear the air.

Thats cool, I'm just going off of what I was reading on this thread. I saw your post count and Just figured that, maybe if you at least introduced yourself, then you wouldn't have gotten a negative response....Like I said, Im not speaking on behalf of Bullet Guy, J/M 2 cents

I understand what you're getting at.

I joined this forum to get some insight into NY long range shooting events and to coordinate with fellow enthusiasts. I didn't come here to exchange gossip or discuss my personal interests and accomplishments....though the previous sentence probably gives a good indication of where my focus is at.
