AR barrel length and where to buy?

You should be able to get decent groups at 200 yards with that 16.5 barrel.

That depends what you consider good groups. I don't want 2" groups. I don't want 1" groups at that distance. 1/2" max at 200yds is acceptable. (barely) Then again, maybe I'm looking for something that doesn't exist in the AR platform?? I really don't know. I would assume one could get brutal accuracy out of one. Maybe the answer is to change calibers?? I'm only asking about this because I want an accurate, FUAC rifle!! One that can be accurate and used for target as well as hunting BUT ... the accuracy is the most important thing so I'm looking at a definite bull barrel. The length, that is the question. I understand the increase in speed with a longer barrel but what is that speed going to do for me at longer distances I guess is now the question. Anything? Nothing? All still up in the air. Bull barrel established. I realize this isn't a long range sniper rifle. It will never be that being on the AR15 platform. I don't know .. maybe I'm not explaining myself correctly through all of this?? That's possible. LOL

Maybe. But a 16 inch barrel will probably do it just as well.

Bull barrels are over rated....and heavy as FUCK.

If you really wanted to mitigate barrel whip you would use a 16 inch Barrel. And if you were into punishment a bull barrel..........

If you buy a 200 yard long barrel, yes.

It can, in some cases, with iron sights translate into a longer sight radius.

This, I think, is where the "longer barrel is more accurate" myth originates.

I was wrong.

If one has a 2 inch barrel on a rifle compared to a 16 inch barrel on the same rifle the longer barrel would be more accurate since the 2 inch barrel may not stabilize the bullet

It is a light barrel. I have a couple of them. Have shot everything from 52-90 grain bullets out of them.

You can make it a 16 with a hacksaw and a lathe. Then just drill out the gas port a bit.

Yes. Look up the dissipator barrels. They had rifle length gas with 16 inch barrels.
