AR Failure !!!!!!

I think my AR just blew-up;

Attached is one picture of the lower receiver, you will see a small white dot at the edge of the takedown hole.

Closeup picture shows the takedown detent pin has blown through the receiver and out the side.
Anyone see this happen before? Any fixes or do I need to replace receiver?

Did you try to remove the take down pin without removing the grip?

Could probably be patched up in SHTF world, but given the cost of a stripped lower it's not going to be worth the effort now.

Now the real question. WTF was going on to cause that ?

I figure that as long as the takedown pin does not fall out everything should work properly. I just got to work out a way to stop that pin from walking its way out when I'm firing.

Looks like a $50 fix. Be done with it and move on.

No sure what happened.... had a jam, and when i disassembled the AR this is what I found. Not sure if this caused the jam or if the jam caused the blow out.

What were you feeding it when it happened?
How many rounds were you into this range trip when failure ensued?
Factory or reloads?
Over pressurized load?
Metal fatigue?

Jam occurred on first round of the day ...
(factory 223 not sure of brand.)

Who made the lower? It looks like the hole was not driller properly.

If its a name brand lower, maybe send them some pics and a letter and see if they replace it.

Looks like receiver had a weak spot around pin and detent that just cracked off. Definitely speak with lower manufacturer about a replacement. Doesn’t appear to be a high impact/stress point.

The other option is to grab some brass rod of the correct OD, and make a longer pin, that remains supported even through the end of the hole is blown out. Cut the spring accordingly, and you should never have to think about it again.

It looks like someone yanked that takedown pin right out. This detent wouldn't just pop out during rifle cycling or firing. Hate to be the only one stating the obvious.

I don't know what happened but i just out the detent pin snapped in two, and the buffer spring retention pin is deformed.

Just found an allen key that will work. I'm going to cut that down to size.
