AR pistol (getting an AR pistol added to their CC after the fact of purchasing a lower?)

Federal law requires only licensees to put serial numbers on firearms they manufacture, and they have strict standards about marking and record keeping.

If you want to do it on your own, you can do anything you want, from nothing or freehand with a sharpie, to laser etched or CNC milled.

At first I was using a punch set to stamp my Initials and a significant year For my serial numbers XX1943 after a while I just used a Dremel tool It doesn’t look as good but it is less nerve racking. With a stamp you get one strike If you screw up you can’t fix it, with a Dremel it is much easier to Not make mistakes.

Orange County? Easy. Do your amendment for with make, model, serial number. Check frame only box. Send copy of receipt with amendment form. If you know what you are building, get your barrel. They will want a receipt for the barrel showing length and caliber.

Send it all together. Once it's on your permit, build away.

I don't remember doing my aks74u like that. There was nothing to do with a barrel. It was just make, model, serial and caliber for the receiver from nodak spud. Then I built it.

No federal law about home made guns and marking them unless you are manufacturing them to sell:
You can make guns for your own use.
You cannot make guns With the intent of selling them without a license.
You can put whatever serial number you like on guns you made.
You can sell a home made gun once you no longer want it, the ATF recommends you put a serial number on it. If you make a habit of selling homemade guns The ATF will come visit you.

Since you went throught the OC amendment, on the form, where it says Manufacturer, and then pistol/revolver/single shot, do i just leave the pistol/revolver/single shot column blank, since i am checking off the box for Frame only? or do i just put pistol. again, my FFL purchase form for the lower has "receiver" checked off.

IIRC, I filled out all the information AND checked the "Frame Only" box. I believe I put "pistol" as it certainly isn't a revolver and I wasn't building it as a single shot. I don't recall if I put the caliber or "multi". It is on my permit as 6.5, but that information may have come from the barrel info.
